This is a Shopsmith Mark V Series 500 505 510 Fence Straddler Assembly – Beige/Gray. The beige/gray units are no longer made and carry the Shopsmith name and logo embossed in the face of the unit. The new units are red and carry the Edgewood name. This unit can be reversed to use it with the blade on either side of the fence. This is a cool tool to have when trying to rip tiny widths down to 5/16. The Fence Straddler slides on the fence between the fence and blade, much safer than a small stick that can hit the blade with just a slight misguide. Because it straddles the fence it cannot hit the blade during operation unless the blade is set too close to the fence to start with. The depth of wood can be 1/4″ to 2 1/4″. This unit was well taken care of, used very little, and is in excellent condition.
